Samantha Ketsa is an active artist, educator, and academic. Samantha is a multidisciplinary artist who received her BFA in Dance with distinction from the University of Calgary, and is creative partner of Alberta-based interdisciplinary collective Baker Miller Pink. Samantha’s choreography has been supported by Springboard Performance, Corps Bara Dance Theatre, Dancers’ Studio West, Nextfest, Major Matt Mason Collective, DIY Theatre, One Yellow Rabbit’s High Performance Rodeo, Leña Artist Research Centre, Vertigo Theatre, and Decidedly Jazz Danceworks. She has also contributed as a journalist to The Dance Current, and advocates for enriched public dialogue about the Prairie arts scene. Samantha also spent a formative summer in New York as an intern at the American Tap Dance Foundation’s Tap City Festival, where she supported the operations of an internationally acclaimed tap dance festival of workshops and performances, and performed with an international cast at Lincoln Centre. After training across the Edmonton area for most of her childhood, Samantha and her sister Deanna found their dance studio home at Marr Mac in 2013. As an educator, Samantha specializes in tap, modern, contemporary, musical theatre, injury prevention, and coaching composition for youth dancers. Concurrent to her artistic practice, Samantha has pursued studies at the graduate level in counselling psychology, as well as gender and sexuality studies, mental skills training, and trauma studies. Samantha is thrilled to be returning to Marr Mac as an instructor, infusing joy, rhythm, and community into her classes.
