Deane Marr

Marr-Mac Dance & Theatre Arts Centre was started in 1968 in the basement of Deane Marr’s home in Petrolia. One year later it expanded to a duplex on the south side of Edmonton and run in conjunction with a daycare and kindergarten along with her mother Jacqueline Macdonald.

Deane trained in England at The Hamond School where she received her teacher’s certificate in classical Ballet.

Deane has obtained her Intermediate standing as a dancer in RAD, Advanced standing in ISTD and her Licentiate teachers
certificate with the ISTD.

She has since expanded her training into the Russian Vaganova Technique of teaching classical Ballet through workshops in
St. Petersburg Russia and Ballet Divertimento School in Montreal.  Her students have made the transition to the Russian technique.

Deane, now retired, founded Marr-Mac Schools in 1968.
